Yo!
Plotters,
The shop will be open on Saturday 14th March from 11 am to 1 pm).
Seed potatoes
SPUD-U-BUY
Here's the varieties that will be on sale (if you're quick; we have 40kg of one variety and 35kgs of another, but more like 18-20kgs of the rest, so we can't guarantee latecomers will find what they fancy).
The $2-per-kg seed potatoes
(the pound sign on my keyboard is broken; I know, right?)
• DESIREE <I>
• JAZZY <Lord only knows>
• RED D*** OF Y*** <D, probs>
• WILJA <D>
• NADINE <I. probs>
• CHARLOTTE <I>
• KESTREL <D>
And for $2.50p-per-kg (still broken):
• ROOSTER <I>
There'll be a factsheet about each variety on display (I know, right?) but those of you with sharp memories may be wondering: 'yes, yes, but are they determinate or indeterminate?'.
DETERMINATE seed potatoes mature faster, producing one concentrated layer of tubers (that's what we horticultural types call potatoes), which makes them ideal for smaller spaces and containers.
INDETERMINATE seed potatoes produce multiple layers of said tubers along their stems, which is why they need soil piling up around them.
Now go back to the list above. <I> = indeterminate, surprisingly; <D> = determinate. There's some uncertainty in Mr Google's world about the others.
See you on Saturday.
