Open Day help

Dear Plot Holders,

As preparations for this year’s Open Day gather pace, we’re looking for
donations to help make the day a great success.

Donations for the Open Day

Tombola Prizes

We’re hoping to offer a fantastic selection of prizes for our tombola
and would be very grateful for donations of:

🌱 Gardening items such as seed packets, gardening gloves, hand tools,
plant pots, labels, twine, bird feeders, and gardening books

🍯 Homemade jams, chutneys, preserves, honey, or other homemade treats

🍫 Unopened chocolates, biscuits, sweets, tea, coffee, soft drinks, and
other treats

🎁 Gift sets, candles, mugs, toiletries, stationery, puzzles, games, and
good-quality unwanted gifts

⭐ Hampers, vouchers, larger gardening items, and other special prizes
are especially welcome.

No donation is too small, and every contribution will help make the
tombola a success.

Gardening Items for Sale

We are also looking for donations of used gardening tools, gardening
books, gardening magazines, and other gardening-related items in good
condition. These will be sold separately at the Open Day rather than
used as tombola prizes.

If you have any spare tools gathering dust in the shed, or gardening
books and magazines you’ve finished with, we’d be delighted to give them
a new home - see the message below.

Thank you for your generosity and support. Every donation will help make
our Open Day a great success and showcase our allotments to the local
community.

With best wishes,

Sophie

TOOLS, BOOKS AND GARDENING ITEMS

Dear all

The used tools* and books* - including tools that need sharpening or repair - will be sold** from the old tool and book stalls run by Bob*** and helpers****. The sooner we receive them the better, so any sorting out that's needed can be done.

* tools - can include non-gardening, but please call Bob before leaving non-garden items. There's room for a bit of bric-a-brac, but not unsaleable junk.

* books - can include non-gardening e.g. outdoors, cooking etc. but not too far from gardening.

** sold for modest prices. We usually have free and 'pence' boxes too. The aim only partly raising money, but also recycling to new people items that are spare, or still have a bit of use in them.

*** Bob - call/text/whatsapp/email
07942 373 015 or bob@apaa.org.uk

You can leave tools on my plot 48, which is on the main part of the site, or I can collect. Get in touch for directions or to arrange collection.

**** our wonderful helpers for the stalls have made all the difference previously and new (and former) helpers would be more than welcome this time too!

Best wishes

Bob

OPEN DAY CAFÉ

Dear All,

There will be a café at the Open Day selling tea and cakes to all. If you feel like baking a cake for the café we would be very grateful. It's usually very busy and we do need a lot of cakes and they can be any kind of cake. We shall be there setting up from the morning from 12.30pm, so cakes can be left with us at the café from then and if possible by 1pm when the café will open. If you can include a list of ingredients that would be great.

It is useful to know how many cakes to expect, so if you could email me at elizabet...@gmail.com saying that you will be bringing a cake then I shall be very happy to hear from you.

Thank you very much.

Very best wishes,

Liz
from the Café Team
